It’s day 3 of the Wind Ensemble’s American Heartland tour and today we got to explore the city of Milwaukee!

We all started together as a group at the Milwaukee Art Museum before we split off into small groups. We made sure to get the the museum with plenty of time to spare before it opened at 10am because something pretty magical happens when they open. Each day (wind depending) the museum opens up its wings to allow natural light into the room. Luckily enough for us, it wasn’t too windy so we were able to watch the wings expand. It took about 3 minutes for all of the wings to be fully expanded!

We also made sure to have some fun while we waited for the wings by playing some hand games together. The horns and percussionists have been busy with their intense ‘duck wars’ battles and I managed to snap a photo whilst being attacked!

We walked through practically the entire Art Museum before thinking about lunch. After a short walk, we arrived at the Milwaukee Public Market where there were so many options. Like seriously. Paninis, brats, burgers, wraps, açai bowls, smoothies, baked goods. You name it, they had it!!

After we had our food we walked to a nearby gift shop to get some Milwaukee souvenirs. Then we walked along Wisconsin street to look at some sculptures outside, eventually found our hotel, the Bradley Symphony Center (we found that Yo-Yo Ma is performing there tonight but we’re going to the Brewer’s vs. Cubs game instead, and finally ended up at 3rd St. Market Hall (aka 3rd Avenue).

Here, we found many more food shops. Friends I was with got apple pie pierogis and boba tea! We mostly chose this spot so we could rest our feet because we had been walking so much, but we also chose this spot because of its activities inside. They had free games of cornhole, shuffleboard, and ping pong! Super fun place with great people!

After that we got settled in our hotel rooms, just a short walk from 3rd Avenue actually! Then we made our way to the Brewer’s vs. Cubs game, which Raeleigh will tell you more about next!!
